John CalvinCalvin and Drive-by Theology

Union with Christ and Twofold Grace in Calvin

by Dr. Mark Garcia

Dr. Mark Garcia looks at an important theme in John Calvin's theology - union with Christ - and the many benefits that come to us when we are united to Christ. Examining the biblical and historical background to this doctrine and arguments over things like justification today, Garcia also urges us to avoid reactionary "drive-by theology" (referring to drive-by, hit-and-run shootings) but instead to understand theologians like Calvin in their context and systematic depth.

He especially warns us against the misunderstandings and misrepresentations of "blog theology" with its selective proof-texts and angry polemical edge. Informative, passionate, and penetrating - well worth a listen!
